laissez faire

words hurt

so do lashes and butterflies

supermarkets with empty lots

and clouds passing by

trees with no shade or darkness

and scattered grass on roofs

footsteps fading away

and lights flickering questions

questions at you at me

questions at babies

words hurt

and cutting cries and moody smiles

sharp edges on softness

blood when it flows away

words hurt

and every thing else

let it hurt

predictable words

mad words

shouting words

always an I after a you

sometimes a fight after a but

some lies after a pause

a hurt after a word

a sky under another

a galaxy contained within letters

far away

leaving skin on paper

ink on skin

another world

with no words

only lonely hurt

hurt longing for words

laissez faire

oh
